Pigments & Dyes Market Information This Week (26th Sep. – 2nd Oct.)

Organic Pigments Pigment Yellow 12, Pigment Yellow 13, Pigment Yellow 14, Pigment Yellow 17, Pigment Yellow 83, Pigment Orange 13, Pigment Orange16. The possibility of subsequent price increases due to the DCB’s growth in demand for the main raw material — o-nitro material as well as the phthalic anhydride, phenol, and aniline price continued to increase. The DCB factory has stopped the external quotation at present because of the possibility of price rising. Pigment Red 48:1, Pigment Red48:3, Pigment Red 48:4, Pigment Red 53:1, Pigment Red 57:1. 2B acid (the main raw material of Azo Pigments) prices are steady this week. So the price of Azo pigment group will keep stable in the coming one week. Pigment Yellow 180 & Pigment Orange 64 The raw material AABI still remains stable, however manufacturer may adjust the price (price reduction) next week due to the market being weak. Pigment Red 122 & Pigment Violet 19 The price remains firm at present, but the yellow phosphorus price rises a little bit this week. No clear sign of price increasing of both PR122 and PV19 in the coming week. Phthalocyanine Pigments Pigment Blue 15 series & Pigment Green 7 There is the probability that the subsequent price will also increase due to the main raw material  (phthalic anhydride, cuprous chloride, ammonium lacrimal acid) prices rise this week. Solvent Dyes The dye market is still in a weak trend this week. However, Solvent Red 23, Solvent Red 24, and Solvent Red 25 prices rise due to the basic raw materials (aniline, hydrochloric acid, liquid caustic soda, and o-toluidin). Some raw material prices slowed down, such as PMP (1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolinone), 1,8-diaminos, 1-nitroanthraquinone, 1,4 dihydroxy anthraquinone, and DMF. However, the solvent dye’s price is at low level and the probability of subsequent adjustment is relatively high due to demands increases in season 4 .

‘Preamber’ Lucid pearlescent effect pigment:A new generation of fourth category pigment

In the forefront of modern materials science, photonic crystal materials have gained significant attention for their excellent color-changing properties and captivating color displays. The latest effect pigment product from PNM, ‘Preamber’ lucid pearlescent effect pigment, represents an innovative breakthrough in this field. With its unique structural color effect, it stands out in the market, offering a wide range of colorful options for various applications. PART 01 ‘Preamber’  Lucid Pearlescent Effect Pigment We categorize common pigments into the following four types: absorptive pigments, metallic effect pigments, and pearlescent effect pigments. Absorptive pigments display color by absorbing specific wavelengths of light. Metallic effect pigments exhibit a metallic sheen through the reflection and scattering of light. Pearlescent effect pigments present color through the interference effect of multiple layers. And PNM, with its independently developed technology, has broken the limitations of traditional pigments, producing the fourth type of pigment on the pigment manufacturing technology platform – ‘Preamber’ lucid pearlescent effect pigment. ‘Preamber’ lucid pearlescent effect pigments do not add any colorants, but are based on the unique physical properties of photonic crystal structures. This structural color effect is produced through the interference and reflection of light in nanoscale structures, with the formation of colors entirely dependent on the arrangement of microspheres within the material. Therefore, ‘Preamber’ exhibits more pure color performance, possessing characteristics of transparency, high chroma, high brightness, and high sparkle, which enable it to present different color visual effects under different viewing angles. Meanwhile, the background color also has an impact on the visual performance of ‘Preamber’ lucid pearlescent effect pigment: 1. In transparent carriers The color performance of ‘Preamber’ lucid pearlescent effect pigments is relatively mild, mainly displaying iridescent effects. This effect gives the material a refined color change, suitable for product applications that require subtle visual effects. It can

How China’S Ban On Plastic Waste Imports Became An ‘Earthquake’ That Threw Recycling Efforts Into Turmoil

From grubby packaging that engulfs small Southeast Asian communities to waste that piles up in plants from the US to Australia, China’s ban on accepting the world’s used plastic has thrown recycling efforts into turmoil. Source: AFP ● When recycling businesses gravitated to Malaysia, a black economy went with them ● Some countries treat China’s ban as an opportunity and have been quick to adapt  From grubby packaging that engulfs small Southeast Asian communities to waste that piles up in plants from the US to Australia, China’s ban on accepting the world’s used plastic has thrown recycling efforts into turmoil.   For many years, China took the bulk of scrap plastic from around the world, processing much of it into a higher quality material that could be used by manufacturers. But, at the start of 2018, it closed its doors to almost all foreign plastic waste, as well as many other recyclables, in an effort to protect its environment and air quality, leaving developed nations struggling to find places to send their waste. “It was like an earthquake,” Arnaud Brunet, director general of Brussels-based industry group The Bureau of International Recycling, said. “China was the biggest market for recyclables. It created a major shock in the global market.” Instead, plastic was redirected in huge quantities to Southeast Asia, where Chinese recyclers have shifted. With a large Chinese-speaking minority, Malaysia was a top choice for Chinese recyclers looking to relocate, and official data showed plastic imports tripled from 2016 levels to 870,000 tonnes last year. In the small town of Jenjarom, close to Kuala Lumpur, plastic processing plants appeared in large numbers, pumping out noxious fumes around the clock. Huge mounds of plastic waste, dumped in the open, piled up as recyclers struggled to cope with the influx of packaging from

PIGMENT YELLOW 139 – Introduction and Application

PIGMENT YELLOW 139 – Introduction and Application Pigment Yellow 139 is a red shade yellow pigment with high color strength when used in plastics. It is recommended as a replacement for diarylide and lead chromate pigments. Potential reaction of PY139 with alkaline additives can lead to discoloration and a reduction in properties. Another advantage of Pigment Yellow 139 is, it has low warping in HDPE. Suitable for PVC, LDPE, PUR, rubber, PP fibers, and limited use in HDPE/PP. In coatings, Pigment Yellow 139 is a reddish yellow pigment with excellent fastness to light and weather, especially in deep shades. Very good opacity for an organic pigment. Eminently suitable for the production of intense opaque yellow shades for lead-free or low-lead paints. It should be borne in mind that the resistance to very strong alkalis in some binder systems is unsatisfactory. With inorganic pigments to instead of chromium yellow. Suitable for Automotive Paints, Industrial Paints, Decorative Paints. You can see fastness to solvents are all good in below linked specification, as well as its excellent fastness properties. Another topic which is popular, more and more people use Pigment Yellow 139 to replace Pigment Yellow 83 now. In the past, Pigment Yellow 83 is widely used. Due to the rising cost of raw materials and serious supply shortage, Pigment Yellow 139, which has same shade (reddish yellow), become a replacement with cost effective advantage. Please particularly note heat resistance, Pigment Yellow 139 can reach 240C while Pigment Yellow 83 can only reach 200C. Do not use Pigment Yellow 83 in polymers at temperatures over 200C. Decomposition of Diarylide Pigments in polymers at temperatures above 200C can produce trace amount of harmful aromatic amines.
